Commitment: Scholarships are based on the member’s participation with and commitment to EWTG, with a smaller emphasis on the benefits of the scholarship to the member and their organization. In addition to fulfilling an active role with EWTG, scholarship recipients are required to promote the EWTG scholarship program by writing a newsletter article and participating in other EWTG activities to share the knowledge gained from the scholarship activity. If a member fails to fulfill their qualification requirements and commitments, they must repay EWTG the entire scholarship award amount.
- Travel associated with the Audrey Selden Leadership Texas/America scholarship will be reimbursed after receipt of the Reimbursement Request form and appropriate documentation. Submit your reimbursement request to EWTG no later than 30 days after your travel has been completed. Air travel is reimbursed at coach fare. Rental car expenses must be pre-approved.
- EWTG will pay the institution, organization or provider directly when possible. Should EWTG be unable to make a direct payment, EWTG will reimburse the scholarship awardee upon receipt of a completed and approved Reimbursement Request form and appropriate documentation.
- Income Taxes: Some scholarships may be subject to federal income tax if travel or other expenses are reimbursed. EWTG is required by law to collect W9s from any scholarship recipient whose travel reimbursements exceed $600. If the scholarship is determined to be subject to federal income tax, an appropriate 1099 will be issued. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.
Scholarship Committee members review and score the applications, and the Chair recommends awards to the Board of Directors based on the final application scores. The Board has the final vote to determine if scholarships are awarded.
